The Founding

2014

As a vintage watch collector, Moreno was inspired by the stories and experiences embedded in his personal timepieces. With a desire to preserve the aesthetic of classic pieces while infusing them with modern craftsmanship, he aimed to create watches that offer a timeless feel.

Ibarra was established to carry forward this vision, crafting timepieces that not only honor the past but also pave the way for new experiences and memories with each wearer.

A Hero's Time

2019

Ibarra introduced the Sucesos, a timepiece inspired by one said to be owned by Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal.

The Sucesos showcased an aesthetic consistent with the period of Rizal's original watch and featured a Swiss SW210-1 Manual Wind movement, marking a first in the Filipino microbrand scene.

The model was scheduled to be released only in 158 pieces. However, the development and production was cut short due to the global health crisis that broke out soon after.

History at the Games

Ibarra was chosen as the Official Timepiece of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

This recognition further cemented Ibarra's status as a leading Filipino watch brand, celebrating its craftsmanship and contribution to significant regional events.

An Odyssey Begins

2021

During the peak of the pandemic, Ibarra significantly downsized its operations; however, amidst these challenges, they collaborated with the Filipino microbrand Argos Philippines to create the 'Odyssey' timepiece.

This collaboration showcased Ibarra's expertise in crafting a timepiece that blends utility with elegance.

As a result of this successful project, Ibarra's founder was later invited to assume the role of Technical Director at Argos Philippines.

A Founder's Independent Journey

2022

Upon relocating to Tokyo, Japan, Moreno embarked on a personal horological journey to delve into the art of watchmaking.

Inspired by fellow independent watchmakers, his focus shifted towards the meticulous craft of 'hand-made' techniques, beginning with the intricate decoration of watch movements using traditional artisanal methods.

He then launched his personal website a few years after.

Ibarra reintroduced itself with the launch of the Trofeo, a timepiece that embodied the elegance and simplicity reminiscent of quartz watches from the 1970s and 1980s.

Available in multiple color variants, the Trofeo also debuted with an exclusive Philippine Edition commissioned by one of the country's premier museums.

This marked the first time Ibarra used a block font for its logo.
