A Successful JRMSP for 2019

Last December 30, the 31st Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines (JRMSP) awarding ceremonies was held at the Rizal Ballroom, Rizal Park Hotel in Manila. The awarding ceremony was graced by Sir Joey Lina, KGCR who gave an inspirational message following Supreme Commander Sir Elihu Ybañez, KGCR who welcomed the JRMSP candidates and their families, and the Order of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) to the event. The JRMSP awarding ceremony came immediately after the wreath laying ceremony at the Rizal Monument in Luneta, Manila which the KOR prepares annually together with the government to commemorate Rizal Day.

The Student Awards Program had been an initiative of the Order of the Knights of Rizal (KOR), the sole order of knighthood in the Philippines chartered in 1951 by President Elpidio Quirino under Republic Act 646. The search aims to recognize Ten (10) Outstanding College/University Students of the Philippines who best epitomize the Rizalian qualities of academic excellence and leadership in campus and community activities, thereby serving as role models to the youth.

For the past two years of the JRMSP, Ibarra has been actively involved as a sponsor and supporter of the program's objectives. Similar to 2018's JRMSP, Ibarra founder Nico Moreno, also a knighted member of the Order, stood as a panelist involved in the selection of the students to be awarded. The panelists were led by JRMSP chairman, Sir Allan L. Rellon, KGOR, Supreme Chancellor and Sir Mark Roy Boado, KGOR, Supreme Persuivant.

This year, Ms. Yumi Lee Briones was awarded as the Most Outstanding Jose Rizal Model Student of the Philippines. Ms. Briones is a BS Chemistry student from Ateneo de Manila University.
